What is Stainless Steel Reinforcement (SSR)?

SSR refers to deformed or plain stainless steel round bars used to reinforce concrete structures in applications where the service conditions are corrosive in nature due mainly to chloride attack or from other chemicals.

For this stainless steel product, the two standard and commonly available types of stainless steel microstructures are the austenitic and duplex structures. SSR products used today have much higher levels of chromium than the 10.5% minimum threshold to qualify as stainless.

Besides chromium, typical alloying elements are nickel, molybdenum, manganese and nitrogen.
